OK, I was sitting at my computer this afternoon, playing one of the lotto games I'm so fond of, when my weatherbug alert goes off. (Scared the crap out of me, too - the computer makes this awful noise. Anybody remember that old TV show, "Emergency!" ? Well, when the alert goes off it's that buzzer that used to bring the firemen from a dead sleep to the sliding pole in one blink of your eyes...)
Anyway, it turns out there's a "Non-Precipitation Warning" (which I've never heard of). The temperature outside had hit 102 F and the warning was telling everybody to keep their a$$e$ INSIDE because you could DIE of this heat.
Remember, guys, we live in the Sticky South of the US, so the heat index was 115 F or so.
I was thankful I didn't have to go anywhere today because all I've got for transportation right now is the Suzi.
Here's my question:
How many of you bite the bullet and wear leathers when you ride during the hottest days of your particular climate, and how many of you "risk it" like I do? In this kind of weather I ride in shorts, steel-toed boots, a t-shirt and my leather vest. That ain't much protection against road rash, but maybe I'm a special case in that I literally don't sweat so I get overheated in a heartbeat.
It seems like there's no such thing as "wind chill" when the temps are that high. Hot air is still hot air, even if it's moving.
Anybody have any strong opinions on the subject? Any suggestions other than wearing one of those pre-frozen neckerchief things?
I HATE risking my skin, but I also don't want to pass out at 60 mph due to heatstroke, either.
Let me know what you think, please.

PS: Thanks for all the birthday wishes. You're a great group of people, I love you all. Well, almost all. ;-)
